Middle East’s global gas processing capacity forecast to grow through 2025
The Middle East is set to lead capability development in the international fuel processing industry through planned and announced (new construction) projects between 2021 and 2025, accounting for approximately 37 percent of global fuel processing capability development by 2025, according to GlobalData, a leading information and analytics firm
In the Middle East, a total of 26 planned and announced fuel processing plants are expected to begin operations by 2025. The deliberate Ras Laffan-NFE facility in Qatar has the highest fuel processing capacity of 4.6 billion cubic feet per day.
The former Soviet Union ranks second in terms of worldwide gas processing capacity expansion, with a new build capacity of 16.0 bcfd planned by 2025. By 2025, the Ust-Luga will have the greatest capacity among planned and announced gas processing plants in the area, with 4.3 billion cubic feet per day of gas processing capability. The Amur II gas processing facility is anticipated to rank second, with 2.7 billion cubic feet of gas processed each day.

North America is ranked third, with a newly constructed gas processing capacity of 12.4 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) by 2025. The planned projects account for 4.6 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd), while the announced projects account for the remaining 4.6 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd). The Chetwynd and NGL North II projects in Canada are the biggest in North America, with capacity of 1.5 billion cubic feet per day and one billion cubic feet per day, respectively.
